Now might be the best time to buy second homes in resort areas across the country.  Prices are dropping fast, however it can be difficult to obtain financing for the average buyer.  The default rates on primary residences have lenders worried, which makes their caution on lending for second homes even more conservative.  Buyers will have their finances carefully scrutinized and could need as much as 30 percent for the down payment in order to purchase a second home.
